The more balanced your blade assembly the more efficient your wind generator, this can be as important as the blade design itself. Also I commonly see homemade wind generators that are designed to furl. If you don’t have high speed winds furling is unnecessary. Another efficiency robber can be mounting the wind vane too close to the body of the wind generator. You want your wind generator to anchor itself and maximize the air flow, not waste energy flopping back and forth. Homemade wind generators are fun to make and they are extremely efficient when done correctly.
Some Things To Consider About Your Homemade Wind GeneratorSome people are under the misconception that they are going to erect one wind generator and supplement all the electricity for their home. This most certainly can be done with a big enough wind generator… However! Big wind generators need BIG WIND, and what you have available might not always fit the electrical demands you need to supplement. Some of the best electrical systems that can completely remove you from the electrical grid or supplement all of your energy demands, consist of solar PV array systems too. Just as there are plans to make homemade wind generators there are plans to make homemade solar panels as well. Incorporate the two and you will truly supplement, if not completely provide, your energy needs. Just a thought. Here is a review of some greatHomemade Wind Generator Plans Now Go Have Some Fun!

Okay, starting to get a handle on this stuff. What is the best resource for a home wind generator? Plans would be nice too.
Answer by ♥BETH♥
I would start by asking your county extension agent or inquiring at a local farm supply store. Your local electric company may be able to help you too.
