Betty Your Questions About Save Energy Now

Betty asks…

After the debate last night the candidates touched on energy, If you can save on energy now, would you?

If you care about the global situation that we are in or just looking for a way to lower your utility bills go to www.2savemoney.joinambit.com for TX & NY.

adminsta answers:

If the government really cares that much then they need to start pushing a lot more money into technologies that already exist.

There are huge deserts that are in our country that could be used as solar energy farms that could eventually supplant or at least supplement a large amount of power for certain regions if the government would just put it’s money where it’s mouth is.

There is only so much that we as the consumer can do on our own without the governments help in these particular endeavors because they are so costly.

thanks in advance icon biggrin Your Questions About Save Energy Now

adminsta answers:

Hmmm…I know how you must feel, I want to get an ice cream, but we’re gonna go rent a movie, so, I’ll just eat the ice cream later.

I would save it for tomorrow, three reasons why:

1) You will need it if you are going to wake up that early.

2) Drinking it right now will give you lots of energy, and you will not be able to go to sleep, and remember (you need to wake up early.)

3) It tastes better in the morning.

Donald Your Questions About Save Energy Now

Donald asks…

Save Energy: Why don’t we build train stations on hills?

I know, weird question. But if a station is on even slightly higher ground, then an approaching train will lose speed naturally, without braking (as much). The saved energy would then be used to help the train accelerate (down-hill) as it leaves the station the other side.

I realise that the differences in speed/acceleration involved would be marginal, but with the energy needed to move the hundred tons plus of just an average commuter train, any small help would translate into a substantial saving of energy.

Now I may be being a muppet, and there may be a very obvious reason why this is a bad idea, but I can’t find it. OK, ok, considerable start up costs of hoiking Waterloo up 10 feet in the air, but aside from that…….. can anyone tell me why this wouldn’t work in principle?

adminsta answers:

Interesting idea. You are “on the right track”: accelerating the train out of the station uses the most energy; but I think it would be cheaper to just buy a hybrid train than redesign every station, don’t you? They are available already. I don’t know why they aren’t used more on commuter trains. Railpower Inc makes hybrid locomotives.

William Your Questions About Save Energy Now

William asks…

Why is the pressure on UK to save energy when America have always been the gas guzzling nation?

I just feel as though America (or the rest of the world for that matter) aren’t doing enough, and yet here in the UK we hear no end of save energy bla bla bla.. and now theres an advert telling me to drive 5 miles less a week!!!! Sounds sensible but that would leave me 5 miles short of getting home on a Friday afternoon!!!

adminsta answers:

It would leave you 5 miles short only if the only driving you did was to and from work. You should cut out other non-necessary driving. The U.S. Is being massively hypocritical about saving energy because so many of our people are mentally retarded and believe anything told to them by their masters or the corporate media.
