Mandy asks…
Are there certain time of the day when you save money (energy bill )?
I mean like if you do laundry at 2:00 am you save more or like do laundry at 3:00pm and stuff
and if there are pls tell me
and thanks

Yes.
Most utility companies have lower prices after 10pm. Call yours to find out exact times.
Also, if you use your AC and heat, don’t turn it off when you are gone. Lower it (in the winter) or raise it (in the summer) by 10 degrees, then adjust it to normal when you get home.
If you turn it off completely, the system has to work that much harder to change the temperature differential. By adjusting it by 10 degrees, it works much less.

Mark asks…
Any ways I can save the energy bill?
I got an AC and my mother and her boyfriend at first said yes… Now they are saying it cost too much. My 5 month old baby girl gets heat rash like crazy and my boyfriend is always sweating its too hot. SO is there any tips to say 50 bucks so I can keep the AC? (the one you put in the window)

Since u have bought the window A/C, the next thing u shud worry is to get rid of the enrgy bill..
Firstly , Hunt Down Heat Sources
1. Seal the open spaces :
Pricey cooled air can leak through cracks along window and door frames. Invest in some caulk and weather-stripping to plug up these drafts as you notice them. Stopping those leaks and making sure your home is properly insulated could save you up to 20%, Kweller says. Insulation materials are also eligible for the 30% energy efficiency federal tax credit, up to $1,500 for all improvements combined.
2.Change your light bulbs. If you haven’t swapped your incandescent bulbs for compact fluorescents yet, get to it, Kweller says. Switching four 75-watt incandescent for 19-watt CFLs can save almost $30 a year — and not only do CFLs use less energy than conventional bulbs, but they also generate less heat.
3. Close your blinds. It’s a simple concept: Rooms get hotter without shades or curtains to block the sunlight. You can put this idea to work more effectively by getting insulated window treatments.
4. Use fans. A breeze makes the room feel a few degrees cooler. Just be sure to turn it off when you leave. “Fans cool people, not rooms,” Kweller says. Since U said, u have a baby, get the fan for baby’s sake..
5.Unplug. Gadgets like your cellphone charger and microwave suck energy — and generate heat — as long as they’re attached to a power source. Standby power for appliances not in use is typically 5% to 10% of residential electricity use, according to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Plug those devices into a power strip that can be turned off when not in use
Secondly, try to load the dishwasher at night after 9pm as the price for the usage of watts are reduced to half and its double the time more expensive at day time peak hours 8 am to 4pm.. Use the option cool dry as u can let the dishwasher naturally air dry the dishes for the eight hours from night till morning..
Thridly, buy a twin draft guard which is only $9.99 in rite aid and other pharmacy shops. It does prevent the leaks from the door spaces below. Believe me , it did save a lot of money during winter too..
Finally , check the A/C unit regularly for filter .. If filter gets clogged up, it takes lot of time to get cooler… Change the filter or clean it regularly once in 3-5 months.. Try to keep the A/C in thermostat.. In Auto mode, as the desired temp reaches, it will shut off and maintain the temp.. Gets started when the temp goes down.. Try to use the A/C in auto mode in Night time and use tower fans in day time.. If u r working, switch off the unit in day time..
Hope u find it useful..
