Sharon asks…

How to save $450 a month? We live in teh country which means our house is propane powered? Any tips for saving

I had to move out to be closer to my college, Now I’m back saving every penny I make this summer to spend on housing, food, college. I’m looking for any tips saving electricity. We have three fish tanks, a computor, a veggie garden,I make cleaning supplies out of vinegar stc, looking into making my own laundry detergent and I hang dry our cloths, I go back to school in september. Any ideas to make more money I tried to advertise housecleaning with flyers that didn’t work, any better way,energy/propane saving ideas?

adminsta answers:

Use nite lights instead of lamps at night, turn your hot water heater off, turn it back on 15 minutes before you need it.use window units in bedroom at nite so you can turn off central unit,no need to cool whole house, microwave instead of oven,or small countertop oven instead of big one, ceiling fans allow you to cut the thermostat up because ti keeps cool air circulating, you can make your own deodorant too. There is a book called back to basics which gives alot of helpful hints..good luck

saving energy and money tips?

can anyone give me some tips on how to save money like things i can do in my house to save money and energy?

adminsta answers:

Turn off all electrical devices when they are not in use – that’s the television, the video, the DVD player, the stereo, the computer, and so on.

Turn down the thermostat a little – you’ll survive even if you need to wear slighter warmer clothing.

Insulate your home – lots of heat is lost through the roof and walls.

Use less hot water – for instance, have a shower rather than bath, install a low flow showerhead, and wash clothes in cold or warm water.

Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) – CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb.

Use a clothes line rather than a tumble dryer – it might take a little longer, but it’s kinder to the environment.

Recycle more – paper, glass, tins, vegetable waste, garden cuttings can all be recycled.

Avoid products with a lot of packing – you’ll only throw it away.

Keep your tyres properly inflated – proper inflation can improve petrol mileage by more than 3%.

Drive less – walk, cycle or use public transport when you can.

Fly less – use the train when you can.

Try to travel less – for instance, use teleconferencing in your work.
This will save alot of ur money on ur bills
