Sandra Your Questions About Wind Farms In Texas

Sandra asks…

Pickens calls off massive wind farm in Texas: Whats this mean for Obama’s Green Energy plans?

Cap and trade is supposed to push us towards green energy such as wind power.

If Pickens is willing to walk away from a 2 billion dollar investment just how feasible is it for wind power to become a major source of electricity?

Wont cap & trade just make things worse?

adminsta answers:

That’s not the way I read it. He said he got ahead of himself purchasing the generators before wrapping up the leases for places to put them. He said he is looking for locations to place the wind turbines. In his own words:

“It doesn’t mean that wind is dead,” said Pickens, who runs the Dallas-based energy investment fund BP Capital. “It just means we got a little bit too quick off the blocks.”

So dragging Obama into it is way off the mark.

Linda Your Questions About Wind Farms In Texas

Linda asks…

How much does T. Boone Pickens stand to make from his Wind and Natural Gas play?

T. Boone Pickens has proposed an interesting energy reform plan based on Wind and Natural Gas. He’s obviously invested in those sectors (he wants to build the world’s largest wind farm near Pampa, Texas) so how much does he stand to make if his plan gets legislative backing/support etc?

adminsta answers:

With energy prices down about 70%, he stands to loose a lot of money. In fact he has already lost a good deal. His two largest holdings OXY and RIG are down about 53% and 67% respectively about $170,000,000. That is just the two largest holdings.

Is Energy Independence in Texas Natural Gas and Wind Energy?

It seems like the two big things going for Texas is all this natural gas which is low emissions and then wind energy out in West Texas, not excluding some farms in central Texas as well?

adminsta answers:

Yes, the central U.S. Has much potential for wind power, which is why it is the central focus of T Boone Picken’s “Pickens Plan.”

Robert Your Questions About Wind Farms In Texas

Robert asks…

What is the best form of business for starting up a wind farm?

Limited Liability Campany (LLC), S. Corporation, partnership, or sole proprietership
The wind farm is in western Texas where middle-aged parents already have extensive holdings in oil and cattle and two grown sons have had five years experience managing corporate wind farms.

adminsta answers:

At first glance, I would recommend an LLC. This will depend on the type of income and the owners. A limited partnership may also be a good option. I can help guide you into making the right decision on business entities. I can form and maintain LLC’s (or other entities) in all 50 states.

Helen asks…

Texas Energy for Texas, Blue states get zero.?

I just got back from West Texas and wind mill farms are springing up all over. Texas has large amounts of Natural gas. Why should States like Texas or Alaska give a damn about other states that do not want to contribute in getting us out of this energy crisis?

adminsta answers:

Because they have the money to also they want to show the world that while they do have natural gas they do not need to rely on it.
